Vikings: War of Clans

Viking Strategy

Vikings: War of Clans by Plarium (an Israeli studio owned by Aristocrat Leisure) drops you into a harsh Norse world where only the strongest survive. Originally released on mobile in August 2015, the browser version followed in January 2017. As a Jarl, you build your town from a small settlement into a fearsome Viking stronghold. Train warriors, unlock powerful knowledge in the Oracle, and lead your armies to raid enemy territories for resources and glory. The game's Viking aesthetic is richly detailed, with longhouses, mead halls, and dragon ships creating an immersive Norse atmosphere.

The strategic depth comes from the knowledge system and hero development. Your hero — the Shaman — can be customized with skills and equipment that dramatically alter your playstyle. The clan system is central to the experience, with clan wars, fortress battles, and competitive events driving the endgame. Resource tiles on the world map create contested territories where clans clash for control of valuable gathering spots. Each kingdom can host around 45,000 players, and by the end of 2019 there were over 845 kingdoms.

Events & Competitive Play

The event system is a major engagement driver, with individual, clan, and global competitions offering varied rewards. Clan vs Clan and Kingdoms Battle provide regular competitive milestones that keep the community engaged. The game also offers surprising strategic depth through its knowledge tree and hero builds, giving players meaningful choices about how to develop their kingdom. Estimated monthly revenue of around $800,000 demonstrates the game's enduring commercial strength.
